Bryt Energy is a leading commercial energy supplier focused on providing 100 per cent renewable, zero-carbon electricity to British businesses. The business supports its customers' ESG and sustainability objectives with advanced optimisation tools designed to drive down energy consumption. If you've watched a fast-growing supplier stitch together specialist SaaS platforms one purchase at a time, you'll recognise the picture Bryt was already living with.
To support rapid growth, Bryt Energy had invested in multiple specialist SaaS systems to manage different parts of the business. Each platform was effective on its own; none was designed to interoperate. The result was a set of critical data silos. The business had a fragmented view of operations, staff were forced into manual, repetitive data entry, reporting slowed, and there was no single, reliable source of truth for customer or operational data.
For a business at this growth tempo, the data layer was the constraint on the next phase.
We engineered a central data platform on AWS to act as the single source of truth for the entire business. The core of the solution involved building intelligent data pipelines designed to move data from its various sources, transform it for its intended purpose, and load it into a central data lake.
AWS Step Functions and AWS Lambda created reliable event-driven workflows that automate the pipelines. When a key data point is updated in one system, a pipeline is automatically triggered to process the change and ensure data consistency across the business in real time.
The architectural call was to build above the source systems rather than between them. The source systems kept doing what they did well, and the central platform became the unified layer the business now runs on.
Data quality moved from "good enough for the function that produced it" to "good enough for the leadership team to act on across the business". The conversations about which number was the right number, which had absorbed substantial team capacity, started becoming the exception rather than the rule.
A single source of truth. Data quality improved dramatically, enabling faster, more reliable decisions on everything from risk management to commercial strategy.
Enhanced operational efficiency. Bryt can now scale efficiently without adding operational headcount, as teams have shifted from manual data tasks to high-value analysis and optimisation.
A foundation for innovation. With full ownership of the unified data, Bryt Energy is now able to build new services for customers without being constrained by third-party vendors.
"D55 has been transformative for our business. They understood the business and our challenges and built a system that supports how we wanted to work, as well as providing new technologies which are more cost effective and increase our speed to deliver. Thanks to D55 and AWS we don't have to worry about the day to day, so we can focus on the exceptional opportunities for our industry."

The pattern transfers. When your business runs on a stack of specialist SaaS systems that each hold part of the same answer, the right architectural move is to build above them on a central data platform rather than try to wire them together. Event-driven AWS services (Step Functions, Lambda) keep your data layer consistent in real time, and your source systems keep doing what they do best.
